I recently lost my main job - as in it (and an organisation) suddenly ceased to exist. Luckily I have managed to pick up various bits of work and I have found myself busier than I've been for a while.
While delighted to be able to continue to earn my crust, the new regime has rearranged my lovelife and blogging opportunities, hence more silences here.
I have to remind myself that I'm lucky to have the opportunities I do, to see my lover, but - like most of us - I do tend to take things for granted and feel disappointed when life interferes with our opportunities to be together. Last week we only saw each other twice and our time together was limited by my sleepiness (following night-shift) his health, me having a cold, his painkillers, me working a 13-hour day and family duties (both of us). Never-the-less there is something very special about gently dozing together. And we still manage to light each other's fires as well as enjoy simply being together.

Glad you are finding enough work to keep body and soul together. If your time with your lover is shorter now than you would both wish I can only suppose that it brings sharply into focus the importance of enjoying that together time. How lovely that you are so comfortable with each other that you can take pleasure in the simple things like dozing alongside each other

Thanks! I'm definitely into counting my blessings!

Sounds like it's not such a bad life though: at least you're still able to have a bit of fun now and again and you're obviously managing to keep the wolf from the door...

I consider my life to be a pretty good one. The job disappearing was a bit scary, but less so than when I gave up full-time work.
"and you're obviously managing to keep the wolf from the door..."
...unless he's bearing red roses and has a corny line in mock-operatics!

Amazing how many times Meatloaf has been able to recycle his best seller isn't it?

absolutely, and nothing else can touch it. It really is a one-off.

I love the lyrics in You Took the Word Right Out of My Mouth...:
On a hot summer night, would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?
Will he offer me his mouth? Yes!
Will he offer me his teeth? Yes!
Will he offer me his jaws? Yes!
Will he offer me his hunger? Yes!
Again, will he offer me his hunger? Yes!
And will he starve without me? Yes!
And does he love me? Yes!
Yes!
On a hot summer night would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses? Yes!
I bet you say that to all the boys

...but you have to get the right curl of your lip for "I bet you say that to all the boys"!

Glad your getting 'free-lance' work. It could all be for the best.
